In 2008 i was the guest comedian onboard The Thomson Destiny, which was one of my favourite ships to play, but is sadly no longer with the Thomson fleet. It was a transatlantic crossing from the caribbean to the Mediterranean, and without doubt, was one of my most memorable cruises to date. Even today i still get people message me, or even come to my gigs and comment on that particular cruise as there was something truly electrifying about that cruise, from the amazing sea’s, atmosphere, weather, passengers and crew onboard all rallied together to ensure a great time was had by all.
The Cruise Director was my very good friend Keef Maynard. Keef along with the ‘Assistant Cruise Director’ Gavin Murray and Paul Fisher (who is currently one of the top Cruise Directors in open waters) asked me if i would be interested in putting together a brand new vocal concert to perform later on in the cruise. The audience onboard had previously already seen my 2 main comedy shows. This was a show that i had never done before, nor had i ever done a straight vocal concert. So i rallied together some of my personal favourite songs from my vivid laptop collection and the show was advertised to commence at midnight the following night. I was of course nervous that nobody would attend…but when i entered my dressing room 15 mins prior to the show i was overwhelmed to discover that ‘The Can Can Theatre Show Lounge’ was packed!
The concert has previously been unseen, but due to modern technology, here is a link to the entire rarely seen concert we titled ‘Lloyd’s Love Hour’!
